About Us

At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. While we are most well-known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, we provide much more than that. We create an unshakable foundation for progress because our multidisciplinary teams also include scientists, economists, builders, analysts and artists. That's why we believe diversity is our greatest strength. HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

Watch Our Story:

We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world. That ideas inspire positive change. That coloring outside the lines can illuminate fresh perspectives. And that small details yield important realizations. Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.

HDR is looking for a highly motivated individual to lead our KY/TN/AR Power Civil Team. The preferred location for this position is Nashville, TN, with consideration of HDR's Lexington, KY and Paducah, KY offices. This individual will be expected to be a motivated leader who can facilitate the growth of the team and mentor staff within our Power Market Sector. The team supports utility-scale power and renewables projects throughout the Southeast, collaborating with HDR's Power Delivery and Power Generation sections as well as our Building and Engineering Services business group. The chosen individual will be responsible for growing and managing a design production team. Staff management responsibilities will include managing workflow and utilization, mentoring and staff development, forecasting and scheduling, quality control, and fostering a team environment. In addition to staff management responsibilities, the Power Civil Team Lead will also function as a technical lead on site development projects, coordinate with other disciplines across HDR, and lead the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations.

This exciting opportunity also allows for growth and experience in business development. The individual will be directly involved with external clients as well as internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and other leaders throughout HDR. The Team Lead will participate in, and often lead, proposal efforts, scope development and fee estimations for our clients. The position also offers the ability for onsite and in field experience with our clients and our teams. There will be occasional regional and national travel.

Design experience with site development projects in the following areas is considered critical for this role: site layout (ordinance review and vehicle turning movements), grading, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control. Extensive knowledge in Civil 3D and other site civil design software are essential.

Renewables and substation development permitting experience is highly desirable including the ability to research ordinance and regulatory requirements, develop plans within local permitting requirements, coordinate with permitting review agencies, and successfully obtain site development permits required to commence construction.
