Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Worldwide campus is currently hiring adjunct faculty to teach SFTY 440 - System Safety Management at our Orlando, Florida Campus.

Course Description

This course is a designated elective for the Minors in Aviation Safety and Occupational Safety and Health. It is designed to familiarize the student with the terms and principles of the system safety discipline. The student will be able to use various hazard analysis techniques to evaluate and identify risks associated with technical industrial systems, including basic aviation systems. The student will also be able to evaluate the effectiveness of the system design in controlling identified hazards.

Please note that ERAU policy requires that all adjuncts be physically located within the United States while working for the University, including duringtraining.Presently,we are able to support work for new adjuncts from all U.S. states exceptCalifornia.ERAU does not support work from international locations with some limited exceptions for individuals who are residing and working from U.S. military bases.

Qualifications

Applicant Qualifications

A minimum of a Master's degree in discipline is required (please see list of acceptable disciplines below) as well as relevant industry experience from within the last 7 years. This is not an aviation safety course; this is a system safety course in the aviation environment. Instructors must have specific education and experience related to system safety management or engineering

Applicable Professional Certification:

Appropriate Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Professional Engineer Registration (PE) [Safety or Fire Protection Engineering preferred]. Desired Professional Training or Experience: Specific Military or University training in Systems Safety Management or Engineering.

Degrees Within the Teaching Discipline:

Aeronautical/ Aerospace Engineering

Engineering: Fire Protection/ Human Factors/Systems/Safety/Mechanical

Business Administration/ Management/ Public Administration

Education, cognate in Safety

Engineering, with Professional Registration

Aeronautical Science
