Compensation:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $23.54 to $25.00 and is commensurate with experience.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Family Services Adult Case Manager - Adult Service Coordinator within our Family Services department located at Knoll Place in NE Washington, DC.

Position Description: The Family Services Case Manager/Adult Service Coordinator provides case management and support services for adults and children living in Family Housing. Also, develops and coordinates programming for adults on life skills and personal and professional development.

Qualifications:

Required: High School Diploma/GED; 5-8 years experience in social services; case management experience and program development experience.

Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid, CPR for Infants, Bachelor level licensure is required for Bachelor of Social Work (LBSW); Graduate level licensure is required for a Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling related program. (LGSW, LGPC, etc.)

Schedule: Monday, Thursday & Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm; Tuesday & Wednesday 11:30am - 8:00pm (40 hours per week)

Expected Contributions:

  • Case Management: Responsible for providing case management services utilizing the strength-based perspective and integrating motivational enhancement theory. Coordinate follow-up, monitor, and track service outcomes making necessary adjustments to services based on progress and need. Collaborate with families and individuals to develop goals plans and monitor and report progress. Perform intakes and annual assessments and incorporate findings into case management services.
  • Program Activity Development: Develop and coordinate activities for adults on life skills and personal and professional development. Identify resources and establish partnerships to assist in activities. Develop and submit quarterly community events schedule/calendar and family activity plan. Assist with program operations, as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for motivational enhancement interviewing and for career counseling and guidance. Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and individualized services. This includes understanding residents' needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating of satisfaction
  • Knowledge of family/group/individual behavior and dynamics and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to write effective SMART goal plans and document progress
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Talking to others to convey information effectively
  • Ability to educate and teach residents how to access and utilize community resources
  • Ability to engage and develop strong professional relationships
  • Understanding of issues of trauma and mental health Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Use sound judgment to respond in crisis situations
  • Establish and adhere to strong professional boundaries
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Reports to: Program Manager

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods.
