Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently in need of a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to work as a member of the Water Business Group in our Columbus Ohio office. The successful candidate will be expected to work as a team member for studies and / or detailed design and construction services for pump stations, collection / distribution systems and water / wastewater treatment plants. In the role of Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer, we will count on you to:

  • Independently create detailed designs of pump stations, collection/distribution systems as well as water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Prepare drawings write specifications, analysis and study-level reports for water and wastewater systems, determine appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection, and cost estimation.
  • Serve as project manager or assist project managers throughout the design and construction phases of projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience preferred.
  • PE (or ability to obtain through reciprocity for Ohio and Kentucky)
  • Experience in evaluating, designing, and/or developing drawings and specifications for water/wastewater treatment facilities and pump station projects is preferred.
  • Ideal candidate is self-motivated, an excellent communicator (written and verbal), attentive to detail, able to work independently and with a project team to the completion of a task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera project management software is preferable.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering is preferred.
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
