Job Description

The function of the Process Licensor III to IV is to support the Lead Process Licensor to assure that the process technology applied on the Project will be successful in achieving the business objectives.

General responsibilities as Technical Leader for the Lithium Global Business Unit (GBU)

  • Advising the Process Technology Leadership on the needs for technology development in the Lithium ore-based refining area. Evaluate technology options on
    • Technical feasibility and the goals for process development
    • Sustainability impact
    • Quality improvement
    • Profit improvement
  • Consult on multiple projects in various global locations to ensure consistency in the technology application.
  • Support the Process Technology and Quality (PTQ) leadership on project implementation.
    • Support major PTQ programs, working for the lead Process Licensor
    • Contribute progress updates within the Strategic Project Portfolio
    • Provide technical input to megaprojects.
    • Network across the PTQ global organization to share knowledge, ideas for improvement, and technical innovation.

Project Specific requirements as Process Technology Licensor

  • Responsible that the process technology choices adhere to the business requirements, are fundamentally sound, and are based on the proven technology.
  • Responsible to keep current (up to date) the process technology documentation of all of Albemarle's Lithium ore refineries globally to ensure the sharing of key developments and to maintain the technical advantage of Albemarle's technology.
  • Advises the Lead Process Licensor of the technical risks and risk mitigation plans that support the decisions on the process technology and equipment made during the project.
  • Responsible to identify, document, prioritize, and present to Process Technology leadership the process related issues that require Albemarle leadership decisions.
  • Responsible to Work collaboratively with both the Albemarle Project team and the Engineering Contractor's engineering discipline leaders.
  • Responsible that the process technology adheres to Albemarle Health, Safety, and Environmental standards by participating in HAZOP's and consulting with the project Process Design Leader to resolve assigned HAZOP items.
  • Responsible to identify, document, and present to the project team any risks and opportunities that could impact the project execution during the APP.
  • Responsible to develop the Albemarle Process Design team members on a project to have a deep understanding of the technology and to ensure continuity of support to the project.

Qualifications

  • 5 years (minimum) of applicable experience in chemical manufacturing, chemical process design and development, or engineering project execution
  • Master's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Exceptional safety leadership and experience with process hazard analysis and process safety management
  • Results driven, action-oriented approach with a collaborative work style that fosters high expectations and supports achieving common team goals.
  • Data-based decision making, problem solving, prioritization, and risk-based management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong internal customer focus
  • Preferred to have experience working with international companies or international projects
  • Fluent in English
  • Located in Charlotte North Carolina.
  • Travel related to projects in USA with some International travel related to consulting or training on projects
