Job Summary:
As a Senior Test and Validation Engineer you will develop and drive component and system level validation for electronic control systems including optimizing validation plans based on risk evaluations, collecting, and analyzing data, performing root cause analyses on findings, and working cross-functionally to help develop the best solutions.

You will partner with and provide data and technical insights to global teams to ensure we consistently develop and deliver high-quality products. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of product development projects while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts, and you will use what you learn to continuously improve our validation, test, and approval processes and tools to help us be more efficient and effective.

This position reports to the Director Engineering-Electronics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead, while working with new product development team(s), the planning of efficient and effective component and system validation (including regulatory certification approvals as needed), and estimate timing and resources needed to execute.
  • Formally document the validation plan (component level, including hardware, firmware, software, and system level), test procedures, and trace to requirements and results.
  • Drive the validation plan execution, conducting the testing as needed.
  • Set direction of development and design of test apparatus and/or test system set-ups including system configuration, HIL systems, writing scripts, etc.
  • Automate test sequences to advance the regression testing capability.
  • Perform data analysis, extract insights, and formally document test setups, results, and provide reports.
  • Drive systematic troubleshooting, assist with root cause analysis, and participate in resolutions and retesting for findings during validation.
  • Collaborate effectively with global team of design and application engineers, designers, manufacturing partners, test houses, compliance team, etc. as needed to optimize complex design and validation.
  • Support the establishment and continuous improvement of processes and tools that optimize validation, troubleshooting, and related communications and deliverables.
  • Mentor and teach less experienced engineers of any discipline in any of the key duty areas above.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related degree
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience (e.g. in validation in new product development including test methodologies and product development lifecycles)
  • Experience with electrical/electronic systems including hardware (HW), firmware (FW), and software (SW)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully optimize validation plans based on risk and reuse assessments.
  • Hands on experience with complex electronic components and/or systems including the use of oscilloscopes, power supplies, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test equipment, and other various electronic test equipment/meters.
  • Experience programming test environment systems such as NI TestStand, NI LabVIEW or PLC logic type test systems.
  • Experience with power generation systems and electric backup solutions or other electromechanical systems such as motor control.
  • Experience with engine controls (ECU's).
  • Experience with CAN communication, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, and other communication networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously and make sound priority decisions.
  • Experience with data analysis, insight communication, and general oral and written communication of complex technical topics.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel
