Job Summary

The Physician, with minimal supervision, manages pain during surgical and other medical procedures ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during these procedures, and for monitoring their vital signs and responding to any complications as they arise.

Essential Functions:
  • Monitors patients before, during, and after anesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications. (20%)
  • Administers anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal, or caudal methods. (20%)
  • Provides and maintains life support and airway management and help prepare patients for emergency surgery. (10%)
  • Records type and amount of anesthesia and patient condition throughout procedure. (10%)
  • Examines patient, obtains medical history, and use diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures. (15%)
  • Coordinates administration of anesthetics with surgeons during operation. Similarly confers with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anesthetic or sedation to render patient insensible to pain. (15%)
  • Determines when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following outpatient surgery. (10%)

Education:
  • Doctorate Degree Graduation from an Accredited Medical School Required and

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years directly related experience Required

Licenses:
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
