Transportation Group Manager - Iowa

We have a career opportunity for a Transportation Group Manager with a proven track record of successfully developing and managing transportation projects or a group of engineers. In this role, you will develop a team to pursue and perform transportation engineering work in the state of Iowa. The Group Manager will self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of transportation-related infrastructure projects, as well as play a leading role in managing client relationships. You will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the Transportation group in Iowa.

  • Lead strategic project pursuits
  • Represent Benesch at industry events
  • Active involvement in professional organizations
  • Contribute to Iowa's strategic growth initiatives
  • Manage multiple, concurrent Transportation and other projects for municipal/public clients
  • Establish project goals and milestones, define responsibilities, coordinate resources, and monitor project progress
  • Ensure the development of high-quality engineering documents
  • Adhere to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking
  • Proactively plan staffing resources, coordinating with other departments as needed
  • Champion relationships with key clients in all areas of Iowa (Des Moines and Ames preferred)
  • Contribute to other project work as a technical specialist or advisor, as needed
  • Market potential clients, in coordination with other leadership
  • Provide input into the growth of the practice
  • Mentor staff
  • Actively participate in the marketing process, including proposal writing
What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • 15+ years of Transportation experience,
  • PE License
  • Experience with Iowa DOT (at least one of the Bureaus) is required; experience with local agency clients is a plus.
  • Must be located in Iowa with the ability to participate in meetings and industry events statewide.
  • Thorough understanding of state and regional design standards
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • A track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules
  • Advanced ability to utilize accounting and scheduling software for project management
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment #LI-MM1
