Geosyntec is growing in the Charleston, SC area and we are looking for an Environmental Engineer or Scientist, or Project Environmental Engineer or Project Scientist for our Due Diligence and Site Assessment Practice preferably in the Mount Pleasant, SC office (open also to Columbia, SC and Greenville, SC), who is highly motivated and passionate about conducting environmental due diligence assessments, environmental regulatory compliance reviews, and related projects. Our ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience in environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, site assessment and remediation, and litigation support, working with industry, finance/lenders, attorneys, or other related clients.   • Conducting transactional due diligence (mergers and acquisitions) assessments with substantial historic research and data collection, including ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II ESAs;
  • Assisting with multi-media environmental regulatory compliance reviews focusing on air, solid & hazardous waste, storm water and wastewater;
  • Supporting projects involving evaluations of environmental liabilities from historical and current industrial and commercial activities;
  • Site investigation and remediation; and
  • Providing litigation support services, including related to hazardous waste and material management.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 25%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology or environmental engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E, P.G.). (preferred)


  • At least 5 years of experience (7+ preferred) in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Proficiency in a second language, written and oral. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
  • Detailed Federal and local regulatory knowledge, especially RCRA, EPCRA, and CWA. (preferred)
  • Experience with South Carolina's Voluntary Cleanup Program and Voluntary Cleanup Contracts. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
