Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Construction Inspector II, we'll count on you to:

  • Base work out of the Omaha metro area and be flexible to project location.
  • Work under general supervision of a Senior Resident Project Representative, Field Services Manager or Project Manager.
  • Provide general construction observation to ensure contractor compliance to the contract documents.
  • Work with the Project Manager to provide contract interpretations, write and issue field orders, initiate change proposals for design team review and approval, estimate cost of changes, negotiate costs with contractors, and recommend acceptance to the Project Manager.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Must understand contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with a focus on professionalism, safety and quality
  • Must be computer literate and have experience with Microsoft Office or related construction packages.
  • Detailed and accurate record keeping, and excellent communications skills are required.
  • An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology or related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Previous construction experience with a consulting firm or a governmental agency
  • Experience on transportation and United States Army Corps of Engineers construction projects
  • Experience with GPS location and data collection equipment
  • Experience with construction material testing and reporting
  • Holds or has ability to obtain Nebraska Department of Transportation Material Certifications
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Preference given to local candidates
