Traffic Designer - Atlanta, GA

Benesch is hiring a Traffic Designer to join our growing Atlanta, GA office as a Traffic Designer on our Team you will have the opportunity to work on various types of projects. Responsibilities will include design and analysis of roadways/intersections, signal design, development of TIA/TIS, signing and pavement marking plans, field work related to rail road crossings, rail road crossing inventory, and overall traffic analysis. This role will also assist with the development of Work Zone Traffic Control Plans and ITS/Communication plans.

The Impact You Will Have:
  • Conduct a range of basic analysis of traffic design including rail road preemption
  • Support technical analyses in geometric and signal design, signal timing plans, quality/level of service analysis, site impact analysis, transportation engineering, etc.
  • Conduct field data collection and summaries of observations
  • Compile and analyze engineering data and prepare written summaries of analyses and conclusions
  • Prepare written reports, memoranda, briefs, summaries, training packages, and presentation materials
  • Designing and drafting signal and traffic control plans and details
  • Developing task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
  • Performing safety analysis
  • Working independently under the guidance of a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager
  • Perform field data collection at railroad crossings and other locations
What We Are Looking For:
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • Knowledge of basic roadway and traffic engineering principals
  • 2 to 3 years of traffic design and/or analysis experience
  • EIT Certification
  • Proficient in MS Office and MicroStation
  • Experience with SYNCRO and HCS
  • Experience developing submissions per technical guidelines. Experience with GDOT standards and requirements is beneficial
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects
  • Excellent communication skills
