Our New York City architecture office is seeking a Landscape Design Coordinator/Urban Designer with experience in conceptual master planning and site design to join our growing Site Design Practice studio. Our midtown New York office provides an open and collaborative working environment along with an opportunity to be instrumental in shaping a diverse range of projects to be enjoyed by generations of users.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Landscape Design Coordinator, we'll count on you to:

The right candidate must have demonstrable design, and organizational skills combined with an aesthetic that covers all genres of design. Ideally this individual will be results-driven with competency in construction documentation and a knowledge of the built environment.

Candidates must be able to support multiple projects simultaneously, and to interact and coordinate effectively with integrated teams of specialists whether within the office or remotely. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn and lead. Professional growth and advancement is encouraged and measured by a person's ability to assume responsibility.

As a team based, collaborative firm, we have a wide range of project types ranging from Healthcare, Science and Technology, Civic and Federal projects, both nationally and internationally.


Working with us, you will:

  • Prepare concepts, design development and graphic illustrations.
  • Provide design concepts and design development packages for various project types and sizes
  • Assist in developing and executing design concepts throughout construction documents
  • Participate in collaborative studio design meetings.
  • Work in collaborative integrated teams of professionals that include civil engineers, architects, building systems engineers, planners, transportation planners and environmental scientists.
  • Observe construction of projects to ensure compliance to documentation, quality control and consultant/contractor coordination.

Technical Skills Required

  • In-depth knowledge of 3D Modeling (Sketch-Up/Grasshopper and Rhino), preferred. Fluency in Autodesk Civil 3D, latest version and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Solid to Strong Hand Graphics.
  • Basic understanding and technical proficiency in grading, hardscape, soils, plant materials, and construction detailing.
  • Understanding and ability to incorporate sustainability concepts into overall site design concepts.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from accredited program.

Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.

Strong 2D graphic and 3D modeling skills preferred coupled with conceptual critical design thinking.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.

Intellectual curiosity and ability to think creatively with a thoughtful approach to problem solving.

Strong prioritization and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred
