The Opportunity:

The Marketing Manager, Clinical Laboratory Assays will be responsible for leading the product marketing strategy focused on assays for the clinical laboratory in North America ("NA"). Through strong leadership and comprehension of the true needs and expectations of the clinical laboratory customer communities ("Customer"), the Manager will be a product champion and lead the development and execution of strategic and tactical action plans ("plans") that align with organizational objectives to deliver business results at or above expectations for the NA commercial organization. The Manager will represent and support new product development for NA by driving Voice of Customer (VoC) into the development process and align with Global Marketing on product strategies.

The Manager will cultivate compelling portfolio positioning and messaging relevant to NA customers' needs and wants to drive distinct competitive advantages for selling new assays. The Manager will also be responsible for developing strategies to drive menu expansion in existing install base. The Manager will collaborate across the organization to execute New Product Introductions (NPI) that encompass pre-launch, launch and post-launch plans.

The Manager will actively participate in all business planning efforts including marketing plan, AOP, demand planning, forecasting, monthly/quarterly and operating reviews. The Manager will be involved in market research, analysis, providing insights, presentation creation and delivery. This role will require time interacting with customers, sales and non-field sales organizations to capture key insights that will drive planning and actions. The Manager ensures excellent collaboration across marketing, sales, operations and commercial excellence.

This position will report to the Senior Director, Physician Diagnostics and will be remote-based in the US.

The Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Knowledge: Be an expert on our solution and services. Serve as the NA technical product expert supporting the NA Commercial Sales, Marketing, Service and Support Teams.

  • Product: Ensure effective product positioning and messaging is in place. Closely work with learning and development team to ensure knowledge/capability levels are reached with the appropriate commercial sales personnel

  • Communication: Drive engagement, market and competitive knowledge through field travel, internal relationships, customer visits, trade shows and attendance of sales team meetings and effective communication

  • Support: Develop and execute a marketing plan(s) supporting the achievement of the NA Annual Operating Plan. Establish KPI's to measure program effectiveness and track trends.

  • Develop, define/refine, and execute a NA clin lab assays marketing plan(s) supporting the achievement of the NA Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Be the NA clinical laboratory assays product expert supporting the NA Commercial Sales, Marketing, Service and Support Teams.

  • Maintain and expand a deep understanding of the NA IVD diagnostics market and establish productive relationships with key customers to drive voice of customer through organization and integrated into NA marketing plans.

  • Prepare and present clin lab systems business updates for monthly forecast, demand planning, allocations, and quarterly operating reviews.

  • Ensure effective product positioning and messaging is in place. Ensure knowledge/capability levels are reached with the appropriate commercial sales personnel.

  • Drive Launch Excellence for clin lab assay launches from business case through pre-launch planning to execution and attainment of objectives. Integrate customer knowledge and market data to ensure both on-market and future products and solutions have a strong value proposition for both the customer and the company.

  • Drive engagement, market and competitive knowledge through field travel, internal relationships, customer visits, planning of participation at trade shows (AACC), sales team meetings and NASM training sessions.

The Interactions:

Interacts with all levels of employees.

Work closely with NA Marketing, Global Marketing, Learning and Development, Service, Technical, Customer Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Sales Enablement, Commercial Excellence.

The Work Environment:

Field travel with sales team and meeting with customers, at least 20% per month or 4 field travel days.

The Physical Demands:

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials (up to 10 lbs.) is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally required to reach, climb or balance. On a typical day, 80% of time is spent at the desk, on the phone, or working at the computer; 20% in meetings or interacting with team members. May require significant domestic travel.

The Individual:
  • Minimum Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree is a plus, but not required

  • Background: Minimum 5 years of experience in the healthcare industry with commercial experience in marketing or sales required. Experience with in vitro diagnostic industry preferred.

  • Business Acumen: Excellent leadership, strategy, and project management skills

  • Communication: Advanced listening, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Highly professional demeanor required

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Execute on downstream product Marketing Strategy

  • Manage KPIs & Strategic Imperatives

  • Collaborate with Field Sales/Customer-Facing Teams

  • Support commercial organizations in achieving AOP. Provide updates on the business, demand plan, and forecast

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $170,000 and is eligible for bonus plan. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays.
