We're looking for an Automation/Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to join our practice in Atlanta, GA, Buffalo, NY, Chattanooga, TN, Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC or from any of our offices throughout the U.S. Apply your engineering skills to projects involving process design for water treatment at landfills, mines, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for developing automation and control systems for industrial water treatment systems;
  • Programming of ladder logic;
  • Integration with SCADA systems;
  • Develop operator interface HMI applications;
  • Collaborate with process engineers to create functional descriptions;
  • Provide field support for projects during startup and commissioning;
  • Interface with electrical, process, and mechanical engineers to understand software application;
  • Interface with PLCs and drive systems; and
  • Apply standard procedures to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical components, diagnose, and resolve issues.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 25%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 25%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineer engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (P.E.) (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Ladder logic programming experience.
  • Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) and Siemens PLC and drive experience.
  • SCADA system experience.
  • Experience with design of PLC control panels.
  • Experience with system cyber security.
  • Experience working with Industrial Databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Proficy Historian.
  • Computer programming, networking, database, and reporting skills.
  • Strong understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Self-starter with a passion for problem solving and continuous improvement, and willingness to develop into subject matter expert.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organization, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • I&C design experience, selecting instruments and creating P&IDs, along with writing specifications. (preferred)
  • Electrical design experience, including low voltage design such as single lines, riser diagrams, power plans, and compliance with NEC. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
