Summary

As a Software Engineer, the employee is expected to perform in a production team role in the development and deployment of training systems, networking, interfacing with platform simulation applications, and general product-level integration and troubleshooting. The candidate should be able to follow direction of lead engineers, complete work with only general technical direction and work in a team environment. The candidate should also be able to communicate status/issues along with solutions/recommendations to lead engineers. The Software Engineer will update or develop software support documentation as required. This position requires assisting in the development of technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions must be imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organizational objectives and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop real-time applications.
  • Perform programming tasks using Fortran, Ada, C, and C++.
  • Expected to be able to work without constant supervision.
  • Proactively communicate progress and impediments on tasks.
  • All software development phases are expected to be performed.
  • Must be able to perform effectively as part of the product team to integrate and develop various CGF (Computer Generated Forces) solutions.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and hold a DoD Security Clearance.
  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Must possess at least 5 years' experience in the simulation or software related industry.
  • Experience using Windows and Linux.
  • Experience with Linux development environment.
  • Experience using source code repositories such as Git/BitBucket/GitHub/GitLab, ClearCase, and Perforce
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical briefings to various groups and engineers
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Fortran, Ada, C, C++, Python, Perl.
  • Experience with Agile development (particularly SAFe).
  • Scrum Master, Product Owner, or other Agile leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and XP practices.
  • Strong interest in software best practices.
  • SAF experience (NGTS, OneSAF, MACE, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SAM sites and military air/ground/surface entity behaviors.

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
