The Opportunity:

Shares in the responsibility for overall direction of a comprehensive Housing and Residence Life department serving approximately 1,400 residents. Primary focus on creating environments in the halls where residents and staff are able to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. Accomplish these goals by exemplifying the department's core values of Customer Service, Connections, and Care. Responsible for full-time and para-professional staff selection, training, and evaluation. Serves as a member to, and coordinates HRL's involvement in, the Behavioral Intervention Team. Adjudicates high, medium, and low-level University and Housing conduct.

Full-time, live-off or live-on, twelve-month position.

Job Duties:

Staff Supervision and Development
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Area Coordinators, Assistant Area Coordinators, and Resident Assistants (supervisees). Focus on staff selection, training, and professional growth.
  • Meet weekly with Area Coordinators to provide direct supervision, assess needs/interventions for Assistant Area Coordinators and Resident Assistants
  • Develop and implement both formal and informal staff evaluation processes
  • Develop and implement strategies and concepts that promote staff "team spirit" and effective work relationships

Staff Selection and Training

  • Maintain/update job descriptions for supervisees to reflect the work being done and changes in expectations
  • Execute comprehensive screening and selection process for supervisees based on job description and HRL core values of Customer Service, Connections, and Care.
  • Develop comprehensive and year-round training program(s) for supervisees. Basic and advanced job training should be focused on the beginning of the Fall, Spring, and summer semesters.
  • Create, maintain, and update Professional on Duty, RA supervisor, and RA manuals.

Housing and Residence Life Administration

  • Create, track, and assess programming model focused on meeting the needs and wants of the residential population and with an emphasis on outside of the classroom learning.
  • Represent the Department of Housing and Residence Life on various University and Prescott Campus meetings/committees. Participate in the planning and execution of campus events such as Orientation, Admissions tour days, and OctoberWest.
  • Respond to student and parental concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve in the HRL Professional On Duty (POD) and Director On Call (DOC) rotation as needed.
  • Regularly utilize different dining locations on campus and provide feedback on food services as needed.
  • Clery and Title IX reporting requirements
  • When needed, run HRL summer operations, including Summer Housing and coordination of conferences.
  • Create and maintain HRL groups and workflow in EagleLife (campus groups).
  • Create and maintain HRL specific outreach letters/configurations in Maxient.

Student Conduct/Behavioral Intervention

  • Adjudicate student conduct cases, up to and including dismissal from ERAU.
  • Provide feedback on the Student Handbook and conduct process.
  • Active member of the BIT - work assigned cases.
  • Coordinate all HRL BIT follow up

    Qualifications

    Master's degree

    • Area of study: Student Affairs, Student Development, Counseling, Leadership, or similar

    Experience

    • 3-5 years of experience

    Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

    • Past experience in residence hall operations, including live-in/live-on call responsibilities and supervision of Resident Assistants or similar position.
    • Previous experience adjudicating student conduct cases and addressing student behavioral concerns.
