Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Summary

The Courseware Developer is responsible for developing training programs and courseware using the Courseware Development Process and for producing training materials using program guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in front-end analysis through interaction with subject matter experts (SMEs) and/or customer representatives while ensuring compliance with required standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform curriculum reviews, courseware development, and multimedia enhancements, especially in an electronic classroom.
  • Conducts research and analysis and compiles recommendation reports.
  • Works with assigned experts to develop ISD products through a process that includes review and research of government furnished materials (GFMs). Interviews SMEs, locates and extracts information from GFMs, syllabus, course structure, and other ISD documents as required to ensure training meets ISD and technical requirements.
  • Revises ISD documents and training materials based on reviews by management, quality assurance, and the customer's needs.
  • Meets standards for cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Develops training materials in a variety of media. Follows established guidelines to design and develop training materials for delivery in a classroom setting, using computer-based training, video, and instructors in conjunction with actual or simulated equipment and systems.
  • Develops storyboards, instructor guides (IGs), student guides (SGs), and other training materials, using computerized database, word processing and computer-based training development tools.
  • Uses established standards for format and style, procedures for design and development of courseware documents, and training materials.
  • Collaborates with SMEs, graphic artists, and others as directed to design and develop computer-aided instruction (CAI) and mediated interactive lecture lessons.
  • Exercises good judgment in interpreting instructions and assumes responsibility for accuracy and completeness of work produced. Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.
  • Works independently or with other team members and customers to validate training materials.
  • Travels and performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Basic knowledge of flight and aircrew training.
  • One year experience in instructional analysis, development, and delivery.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to clearly express technical concepts and procedures.
  • Excellent data entry skills and accuracy in designing lesson content.
  • Good writing and spelling skills, attention to detail, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to accept direction from other managers on various projects.
  • Working knowledge of the complete ISD process and creation of curriculum content.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience as an Aircrew Instructor or Formal Training Unit Instructor.
  • Experience developing training programs, multimedia courseware, aviation training and CAI
  • Experience in designing and developing government training curriculum
  • Experience in Outstart and databases

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
