Job Description

Supply Plan Development

  • Lead the supply planning process with the business, manufacturing, procurement, and logistics teams to develop a monthly supply consensus plan.

  • Facilitate Supply, Consensus, and Executive meetings with the business and manufacturing teams.

  • Execute Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) to balance the supply and demand plan with a forward-looking view and highlight future pinch points and areas of risk for contingency planning and decision making.

  • Support the development of the short-term production plan by collaborating with the Production Planner and using the production plan to build the long term supply plan.

  • Propose alternative supply options including the financial information needed for informed decision making through coordination with the cross functional team

  • Ensure key raw material balances across all production plants including swaps, tolls and purchased products; work across the organization to propose balancing options, contingency priority plans and lead the executive roll-up to key raw materials.

  • Actively manage Working Capital for the business area including calculating and managing inventory targets, safety stocks for all materials at SKU/location level, and updated monthly inventory forecasts.

  • Support Logistics by providing container forecasts and other reporting as requested

  • Utilize IBP for system driven planning and PPDS for short term planning support (SAP planning tools)

  • Monitor aging inventory and collaborate with key stakeholders to use, repurpose, or scrap aging or obsolete inventory.

  • Assist in the allocation process for constrained products when appropriate.

  • Ensure accuracy of Master Data by continually monitoring and updating where necessary.

Work Arrangements

Under normal operating conditions, this role will work to the usual organizational policies and normal practices of the given business unit. However, if the demand planner is notified outside of normal working hours to conduct a task that has critical business impact, then the demand planner will be expected to perform the role out of hours to the extent required to protect the organization.

Requirements:

The Supply Planner must demonstrate the following mature leadership attributes:

  • High levels of personal integrity when conducting the professional affairs of the organization, and dealing with sensitive and confidential data relating to risk and cost

  • Show adaptability and flexibility within the process where necessary

  • Be resourceful and motivated to grow, learn and improve the process

  • Show curiosity by asking questions, learning about the business, and understanding financial impacts of the Supply Plan

  • Strong presentation and speaking skills, ability to tell a story and gain alignment on the plan

  • Ability to drive change, and hold external team members accountable for process improvements

  • An undergraduate degree in supply chain management, operations, mathematics, or a related field

  • S&OP Training, APICS Certification or IBF Certification a plus

The Supply Planner must have the following skills:

  • Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to perform in a command-and-control role under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands

  • Strong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in process formulation and improvement

  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, multicultural business environment

The following experience is considered essential:

  • 3 years of experience using PC-based applications (such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and/or Access)

  • 3 years working in a team-based environment

Note: If recruiting up-and-coming or recent college graduates, internship and co-op time can count toward the number of years.

The following experience is considered desirable, but not mandatory:

  • 3 years of experience working in the chemical industry

  • 3 years of experience working within supply chain functions

  • 3 years of hands-on information gathering, analysis and management reporting

  • 3 years of hands-on experience with modeling, analysis and simulations tools

  • Membership of professional organizations, trade or user groups, and a pattern of regular attendance at industry conferences to enhance knowledge of supply chain planning
