Job Description

Itron DEM (Distributed Energy Management) is the industry's leading provider of integrated cloud-based demand response, energy efficiency and customer engagement solutions that enable electric utilities to ensure grid reliability, lower energy costs, meet regulatory demands and enhance the customer experience. Through its combination of software, hardware and services, Itron DEM helps utilities optimize every aspect of a demand management program, from participant recruitment and device installation to call center support, control events and measurement and verification.

You would be joining the international DEM team, with members in Denver and Budapest. You would be focusing on developing and maintaining a large Ruby-on-Rails application and multiple Ruby and Elixir based microservices running on Docker.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of a software development team and participate in team projects.
  • Assist in design, development and troubleshooting of software sub-systems.
  • Complete deliverables in identified schedules.
  • Assist with problem investigation and resolution.
  • Assist in implementing software process improvements.

Experience: Requires 3+ years of professional software development experience.

Skills Required:

  • Full-stack programming experience in at least one of the following technologies Ruby / Elixir / Java
  • SQL
  • Linux administration
  • Git
  • Containerization (Docker)

Skills Desired:

  • CI/CD (Jenkins)
  • Experience with Scaled Agile development processes
  • Experience with Test-driven development processes
  • Ruby on Rails (ActiveRecord, RSpec)
  • MySQL, Postgres DB
  • BackboneJS
  • D3 Data Visualization Library

Location: This is a remote position, but requires the applicant to be located in the Pacific, Mountain, or Central time zone.

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or completion of a recognized software development bootcamp.

Travel: 0%
