Background:

The History Division (HD) was started shortly after the Agency itself was established over fifty years ago. It serves two key functions: widely disseminating aerospace information to scholars, students and the general public and helping government agency managers to understand and learn from past successes and failures. Thus, the History Division has both internal and external audiences. The contractor shall maintain the Historical Reference Collection in the Archives Office within the HD. This contract staffs the Archives Office to provide archival support in the following areas: acquisitions, appraisal, arrangement and description, reference and access, digitization and preservation of historical materials.

Position Overview:

The contractor should be able to multitask and have customer service skills in person and over the phone.

The Information Specialist Provides customer support via the telephone and/or Internet; refers calls to appropriate department or staff member; handles customer inquiries and resolves simple and basic support issues to include distribution of promotional materials in response to inquiries via phone, mail, or walk-in.

Duties:

Receive and direct persons who call or visit NASA HQ and provide them with information concerning the HQ organizations, functions, activities, and personnel.

Respond to requests for publications and reports produced by NASA.

Ensure that the HQ Information Center locator database is kept current.

Ensure that the personnel directory and the subject directory are updated daily to reflect the most recent updates to the NASA Enterprise Directory and the daily feedback from the customers and using the results of periodic calls to the organizations.

Manage and organize the inventory of publications and other items available in the HQ Information Center. The management of the inventory shall include, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a listing of all publications and other items available for distribution. The contractor shall coordinate the addition/deletion of publications and other items to/from the Information Center inventory.

Minimum Required Skills:

  • Four years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Able to use IT hardware/software to perform assigned tasks at a proficient level
  • Comfortable working with the public in-person and over the phone
  • Experience answering multi-phone line in a busy office

Core Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
