Job Description SummaryThe Department of Music at Wake Forest University invites applications for a full-time, 11-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor and Assistant Director of Bands to begin July 1, 2023. The primary responsibilities of this position involve assisting the Director of Bands with all operations of the band department, including, but not limited to: The Spirit of the Old Gold and Black, the athletic pep bands, guest conducting opportunities with the wind ensemble, and facilitation of all operational activities. The Assistant Director of Bands will play an active role in recruiting for the band program and oversee all social media efforts. Opportunities for other teaching assignments in the Department of Music may include instructing the jazz ensemble or teaching applied lessons. This position does require evening and weekend work and travel.
Qualifications include demonstrated success as a band director at the university level or equivalent years of experience. A master's degree in music, music education, or an equivalent field with significant experience is required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion through teaching, performing, programming, or community engagement practices.
Preferred qualifications include a doctorate in music or music education, college teaching experience, and proficiency with social media marketing.
