Job Description:


AMD's Adaptive and Embedded Computing Hardware Engineering Group (Xilinx AECG) is responsible for designing and building all hardware for wafersort, packaged part testing, and associated support tools to bring new NPI products from inception to high volume production. We are looking for a team member to support, manage, and continue to build our global HW team. In this role, you will:

  • Work with our global Hardware team to innovate, define, plan, and execute our hardware and infrastructure growth plans which includes but is not limited to WW Engineering Labs and OSATs to test and ship products in the AMD portfolio.
  • Build infrastructure needed to ensure successful engagements with our partners.

Knowledgeable with PCB ATE hardware and bench boards, software ecosystem needed to support hardware designs, debug and repair of hardware as needed. Engineer will also support development of mechanical items needed to realize a board design, sockets, backing plates, stiffeners, and other associated parts.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Staffing, training, and developing a World Class Hardware Development team.
  • Collaboration with WW NPI Lab Teams to execute lab strategy.
  • Planning and execution of POR requirements to support new product development:
    • Develop and manage hardware budget: CAPEX and expenses.
    • Plan and manage debug tools and sample requirements.
    • Introduce new products, technology, software into the testing process.
  • Provide regular updates and plans to the global Operations organization.
  • Lead technical planning sessions to align with the POR.
  • Provide hands-on, expert-level technical assistance to the NPI Lab.


  • Experience in ATE and bench board designs, management experience and leading a team of hardware design engineers is a plus!
  • Knowledgeable in Advantest T2000 and 93K tester platforms.
  • Familiar with all levels of software needed for hardware designs, SI/PI simulations.
  • High speed PCB design experience (Layout and Schematic).
  • Proficiency in using Cadence Allegro and Capture CIS.
  • Experience in power distribution network design for PCB , multiphase power regulation.
  • Experience in HW bring up, debug, and deployment.
  • Strong software and scripting skills.
  • Broad technical understanding of FPGA technology, SSIT and stacked silicon packages.


  • BS/MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years' experience in semiconductor industry


San Jose, CA. This position requires on site interaction with the Hardware team and NPI Lab.
