The George Mason University, Intercollegiate Athletic Department, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, is seeking qualified applicants for the Men's and Women's Basketball Public Address Announcer part-time position. About the Position:

The Public Address Announcer is responsible for game day announcing for George Mason University intercollegiate basketball games.

Responsibilities:

  • Read pre-game announcements, introduction of the National Anthem and player introductions;
  • Read in-game announcements of game events, and scripted announcements during stoppages of play;
  • Read halftime announcements including game statistics and promotional events;
  • Read post-game announcements as directed; and
  • As directed by the designated game manager, provides announcements to crowd during the game to ensure a healthy, competitive atmosphere exists for all home athletic contests.

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a public address announcer and/or on-air talent on television or radio;
  • Previous sports announcing experience (basketball preferred);
  • Advanced knowledge of NCAA Division I Men's and/or Women's Basketball;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail;
  • Expressive but clear and controlled vocal skills;
  • Varied vocal delivery based on game situation; and
  • Flexibility to work: nights, weekends, holidays, post season games and other non-game day events.
