Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group in Newport News, VA, Fulton, MD, Vienna, VA or Arlington, VA.

In the role of Senior Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Be responsible for the design of facilities and related sites in support of a variety of markets including but not limited to Federal, Water/Wastewater, Municipal and Industrial.
  • Coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Take responsibility for the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction.

This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound civil site designs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

* A minimum of 10 years of experience

* Experience in site development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control)

* PE

* Demonstrated leadership and communication skills

* Strong operational knowledge of Civil 3D

* Experience with stormwater design modeling programs such as HydroCAD, Hydraflow Hydrographs, Storm & Sanitary Analysis, HEC-RAS, etc.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office

* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Maryland and Virginia stormwater permitting is preferred.

* Preference given to local candidates
