Job Description


In this role, you will manage a growing team of Azure & Office 365 engineers, and SQL DBAs. This individual will work closely with Albemarle's Global IT Network, Infrastructure and Security teams in a collaborative setting to ensure the successful completion of all cloud initiatives and projects.

Responsibilities include architecture oversight of all team projects, including review and guidance of all project architecture, design, deployment, configuration, and security.

Securing network and infrastructure resources across a global hybrid cloud environment. You will serve as a subject matter expert in Microsoft Cloud technologies such as Azure and Office 365.

This role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Management and direction of a cross-functional team in the areas of Azure, Office 365 and SQL Server.
  • Architecture Review Board (ARB) participant for cloud technology implementations
  • Serve as a single point of contact for all cloud infrastructure related projects, questions, and issues.
  • Serve as a single point of contact with Microsoft enterprise cloud team.
  • Work with the PMO and Project Managers to define project scope, duration, resource requirements, and costs with your team.
  • Participate in the design of cloud-based infrastructure solutions working alongside cloud engineers and service domains to ensure that initial and anticipated future business requirements are represented.
  • Maintain cloud-based governance and deployment standards
  • Ensure that the technical artifacts required to implement cloud infrastructure solutions are developed, reviewed, and approved.
  • Work with IT Security ensuring that proposed infrastructure solutions comply with Albemarle's security policies and all Azure services utilized adhere to Albemarle's Security baselines established for each service.
  • When necessary, project manage the build-out/delivery of cloud infrastructure, which includes regular follow-up to make sure tasks are implemented per the agreed schedule and work with the team if issues are identified, to get them resolved.
  • Present cloud infrastructure solutions to Architecture Review Board (ARB) to validate designs, data flows and security meet ARB design and deployment guidelines
  • Work with Albemarle IT teams to manage all pre and post-handover configuration activities
  • Support business application owners through testing lifecycle and signoffs.
  • Set, manage and communicate delivery expectations throughout team projects.
  • Continually assist with the baseline designs and implementation of Microsoft cloud technologies and concepts to include IaaS, PaaS, Azure ARM templates, Azure Blueprints, and Azure policies, including DevOps, CI/CD/IaaC methodologies.
  • Recommend and build policies for cloud deployments such as location, capacity sizing, governance, or other criteria
  • Help determine tools, tactics, and procedures (TTPs) for cloud management and monitoring tools
  • Recommend and implement cloud computing environment resource cost management based on capacity management
  • Recommend and implement standards that ensure adherence to Albemarle security policies and procedures
  • Assist in building incident response procedures for cloud environment with IT Security teams
  • Research and investigate cyber threats and security incidents in conjunction with the IT Security team
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud infrastructure resources based on IT project requirements
  • Develop and support standard operating procedures to simplify and streamline IT processes
  • Provide support to assist with connecting monitoring and security tools (SIEM/SOAR) with cloud environment
  • Understand basic network cloud connectivity in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Assists the IT Security team in monitoring security systems, reviewing logs, and managing information security systems
  • Identify, analyze, and report resource constraints within the cloud environment, using information collected from a variety of sources, to maintain cloud service operations
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, investigate, and resolve network and infrastructure issues and incidents; Provide Root Cause Analysis support


  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure teams
  • Experience within Azure cloud infrastructure including areas of sizing, provisioning, monitoring, and capacity management.
  • Technical and architectural skills in a cloud environment
  • Knowledge of Azure architecture standards, including Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework
  • Adherence to strict change management procedures
  • Expertise implementing solutions in public cloud IaaS/PaaS
  • Expertise in monitoring, administering, troubleshooting, and identifying solutions in hybrid cloud environments
  • Proficiency implementing secure infrastructure solutions
  • Ability to translate strategic requirements into an enterprise architecture designs
  • Expertise designing and managing Azure cloud solutions
  • Expertise implementing cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Expertise implementing virtual infrastructure
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server OS, PKI certificate management, and RADIUS authentication.
  • Working knowledge of JSON and PowerShell scripting
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and configuration management (like DSC or ansible)
  • Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to gracefully explain and enforce cloud infrastructure requirements and guidance
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service, and communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with a wide range of users of varying levels of technological expertise
  • Great troubleshooting and problem analysis skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and grow with changing cloud technologies and a fast-paced business environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Microsoft Azure certification (plus)
