Description Summary

Safely performs maintenance and repair of mechanical process equipment and piping systems. Carries out mechanical maintenance services of major complexity using diverse types of tools, machines, engines, and heavy rotating and stationary equipment

Albemarle Maintenance Mechanic

Required

  • Understand/Demonstrates safe work practices for chemical plant maintenance and Albemarle safe work practices
  • Believes in working safely and complying with safety and work procedures
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment while in operation
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work in a team environment and shift work
  • Must be able to respond to call-outs
  • General knowledge of safe and proper use of all hand, portable and stationary tools required to complete assigned duties
  • Work in high and/or confined spaces
  • General knowledge of centrifugal pumps and hydraulic systems
  • Lift 25-50 lbs. frequently/50-100 lbs. occasionally with necessary assistance
  • Functional millwright skills (alignment, couplings, belts, pulleys, etc.)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and able to learn other programs (SAP, Lotus)

Desirable

  • Drawing and fabrication of piping systems (lined, screwed, and welded)
  • Good written and electronic communication skills
  • Rigging or heavy lift experience
  • Experience with FRP, glass lined equipment, and exotic metals
  • Knowledge of general and heavy construction techniques (pipefitting, welding, steel work)
  • Proactive approach to preventive maintenance
  • Safe operation of mobile or heavy equipment (picker/manlift)

Job Duties

  • Safe maintenance and repair of mechanical process equipment and piping systems
  • Use of a wide variety of hand, portable, and stationary power tools
  • Demonstrate root cause analysis approach to failures and general repairs
  • Must understand that joining plant rescue team or fire brigade is a requirement of the job
  • Be accountable for your own safety as well as others
  • Other work as assigned
  • Be willing to work shift

Educational
Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Arkansas WAGE Industrial Certificate
  • Associates Degree in Process Technology and Industrial Technology, or Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology (or technical related field) may be accepted in lieu of WAGE Industrial Certificate
