The Opportunity: Human Resource Specialist
Why This Role Is Important

Reporting to the Sr. Human Resources Business Partner, iCare the Human Resource Specialist is in an exciting position to help build and steer a developing organization forward. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring Human Resources professional to work in a fun, fast-paced environment with a new team that is looking to build a high-touch and experience focused MGB Ambulatory Care staff. The Human Resource Specialist is someone who embraces change, champions a positive and thorough experience for all employees, including clinical and non-clinical staff. This individual is the "face" of MGB iCare.

What You'll Work On

The Human Resources Specialist is a key member of the growing HR team and works closely with the HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and MGB Centers of Excellence (COEs) to deliver HR services. The HR Specialist establishes and maintains strong working relationships with the HRBPs, leadership, managers, staff, and key contacts across the enterprise. They provide integral support and apply problem-solving skills to support HRBPs and business customers across the enterprise. The HR Specialist participates on projects and mid/large scale initiatives in support of business customers and the HR department.

* The Human Resource Specialist will be primarily accountable for:
* Works with leaders and teams to create a culture of ownership, diversity, respect, equity and inclusion.
* In collaboration with the HRBPs, this role will support employee engagement initiatives and liaison with the People & Organizational Development team to conduct OD analyses and projects within groups as needed. Activities may include coaching managers and staff, developing departmental policies and communications, and facilitating training, meetings, and committees. Serve as liaison to the Core HR services to ensure seamless processing and communication between the core services, managers and staff.
* Assist managers in conjunction with Talent Acquisition to facilitate problem solving, prepare job descriptions and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
* Support and partner with the Talent Acquisition team in developing effective recruitment strategies for assigned business customers.
* Provides subject matter expertise, market knowledge, and knowledge of the operations of business partners.
* Leverages relationships with departments to set recruiters up for success.
* Participates in recruitment related events, partnerships, and strategies as needed.
* Conduct 90 day, 6-month, and 1-year check-ins with new employees. Identify trends and themes and report results to HRBPs.Consults with managers and Compensation department regarding job analysis and evaluation, market and equity reviews.
* Support HRBPs with managing employee relations issues which may include:
o Policy communication and interpretation
o Guidance on performance management, corrective action, and terminations
o Utilization of MGB resources such as training resources, EAP, and DE&I
o Liaison between employees/managers and MGB central Benefits, Payroll, Commuter Services, and other functions for more complex questions.
o Provides sound guidance that results in a positive and respectful employee relations environment that is in compliance with federal and state laws and MGB policies.
o Consults with Employee & Labor Relations, Office of the General Counsel and other functional departments as needed to successfully investigate and manage employee relations issues.
o Reviews ADA accommodation requests and conducts discussions with employees making requests.
* Manage the exit process for voluntary and involuntary terminations, including the job elimination process. May participate in termination meetings with affected employees.
* Conduct exit interviews, manage exit survey process, identify trends and themes, and report results to HRBPs.
* Help to develop and/or deliver trainings and presentations as needed, as an extension of system initiatives or specific to the functional area. This includes routine presentations to all levels of departmental management and staff at senior leadership meetings, retreats, department-wide meetings, and smaller group meetings. Subjects and topics include New Hire Orientation, HR policies and procedures and communication of initiatives impacting the department.
* Manage the new hire onboarding experience for new hires joining MGB iCare
o Partnering with the iCare Training Team regarding the New Hire Orientation
o Ensuring amazing new hire experiences through maintaining and further developing the onboarding checklist and resources
* Maintains an organization-wide and system-wide perspective when making HR & business decisions.

* Manages PeopleSoft queue in a timely and efficient manner. Ensures compliance with MGB policies in transactions.
* Manages Peoplesoft transactions related to employees within MGB iCare.
* Manages and ensures the employee filing system through On-Base is maintained and up to date.
* Partners with HRBP and appropriate staff to create procedures and technical solutions to streamline administrative processes and reporting within iCare.
* Contributes to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of departmental position control systems and dashboards.
* Collaborates with other areas within MGB to provide excellent customer service.
* Support the HRBP during consolidations of groups and individuals moving onto the MGB Integrated Care payroll from affiliate payrolls.

Start-Up Operations:
* Support the development of new HR programs and policies aimed at performance management, organizational health & engagement, recognition, talent planning, and position management
* Maintain and follow established HR systems for activating a new location within MGB Integrated Care.

* May act as resource on committees and sub-committees for MGB/MGB iCare HR initiatives.
* Maintains confidentiality and respects individual sensitivities.
* Participates in all team meetings and additional projects as assigned.
* Use/s the MGB/MGB iCare values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors. About You

* Bachelor's Degree in human resources, one of the social sciences, business, or a related field.
* 1-3 years' experience in a multidiscipline Human Resources environment, including recruitment, training, compensation, benefits and performance management.
* PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification a plus.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and HRIS web-based tools such as PeopleSoft.
* A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

* Understanding of HR and other corporate functional departments and ability to draw on their resources as appropriate. These functions include Benefits, Compensation, Employee & Labor Relations, EAP, Office of the General Counsel, Privacy, Compliance, Information Security, Employee Records, HRIS, Police & Security, Payroll, and Commuter Services.
* Can independently manage small projects.
* Ability to manage multiple project commitments in addition to day-to-day responsibilities.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create, facilitate, and execute formal communication, presentations, and training programs in response to business partner needs.
* Strong customer-service orientation. Effective in operating in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
