  • Summary of Position:
    Responsible for administering the 13 and older swimming operation of the club in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Minnetonka Public Schools, the Minnesota LSC and USA Swimming. This includes, but is not limited to, seasonal planning, meet scheduling, coordinating the effective and efficient execution of daily swimming operations, overseeing swimmer and coach development, providing oversight of the 13/older coaching staff, and in fostering communication amongst all families and staff members. They will report on these duties on a regular basis to the Director of Aquatics. The Head Senior Coach will attend the highest level of competition at which the club's athletes are competing.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Coach on-deck, run group practices, teach competitive swimming, and delegate to and supervise assistant coaches to ensure that athletes are learning and improving. Work with lead group coaches on setting up season plans and monitoring training group workouts.
    2. Develop competition schedule for 13/14 and Senior levels of the club for both seasons. Ensure 13/older club athletes are entered into an appropriate amount and level of meets.
    3. Plan, schedule, assist in set up, and run Minnetonka home meets. Ensure appropriate level of both staff and volunteers for the meet.
    4. Foster efficient communication across the staff, families, and swimmers. Implement and oversee team communication through website, newsletters, and other means of communication.
    5. Assist the Aquatics Director with hiring, development, and evaluation of assistant 13/older club coaches.
    6. Develop agendas for and conduct timely staff and parent meetings including parent education programs.
    7. Attend pertinent meetings: fundraising, school board, Anchor Club, LSC meetings.
    8. Develop and organize additional swim club events including but not limited to annual banquet, swim-a-thon fundraiser, back-to-swim night, swim club tryouts, travel meets, and PCA/related workshops.
    9. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
    10. Maintain a high level of responsibility and professionalism.
    11. Drive the approval, acquisition and use of training equipment as needed.

    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
    2. ASCA level III or higher preferred
    3. Extensive background in competitive swimming, stroke mechanics, age-appropriate dryland training techniques, USA-S swimming rules and regulations.
    4. Experience as a swim coach for at least 5 years.
    5. Experience as a 13/older swim coach (preferred).
    6. Current American Red Cross Certifications in First Aid, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swim Coach certification (preferred).
    7. Demonstrated leadership and public relations skills.
    8. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
    9. Proficiency in Hy-Tek Meet Manager, TeamUnify and basic Microsoft Office products.
    10. Strong communication skills and positive interpersonal skills (relates well to children and adults) as applied to interaction with coworkers,supervisor, the public, etc. to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
    11. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, build, and maintain genuine relationships with swimmers, parents, and colleagues within the sport.

    Physical Requirements:
    1. Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
    2. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Assignment Details:
    Full-time, full-year assignment with variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
    Minimum staring salary is $55,000, with actual placement depending on experience and qualifications.
