Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL)has more than 100 specialized laboratories used to test, analyze, and troubleshoot virtually every aspect of rocket and satellite system design, development, construction, deployment, and operation. The diverse expertise of the laboratories' technical staff allows PSL to stay abreast of new technological developments and program support issues associated with rapidly evolving space systems.
Within PSL, the Microelectronics Technology Department (MTD) at The Aerospace Corporation provides technical support to national security space programs. MTD is looking for a Research Scientist or a Senior Scientist to support investigations of radiation effects, reliability- and radiation-hardness-by-design, and physics of failure of advanced CMOS, SiGe, SOI, III-V, II-VI, and other advanced technology for space applications. This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA.

What You'll Be Doing
You will provide technical support to national security space programs, internal and academic collaborators
S/he will conduct innovative basic and applied research in microelectronic device technologies and applications to space systems, including reliability and radiation hardness.
Support the adoption and assessment of new technologies and applications, space systems, including reliability and radiation hardness.
Perform radiation testing on microelectronic and optoelectronic components using gamma rays, x-rays, neutrons, energetic protons, and energetic heavy ions.
Innovation, velocity, and accountability will primarily be used to assess job performance
This position is available as a Research Scientist or a Senior Scientist
What You Need to be Successful
PhD degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
Typically, 8+ years experience in radiation and/ or reliability testing of microelectronic devices.
Strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and a demonstrated ability to develop and execute innovative research projects.
Knowledge of microelectronic and optoelectronic device physics.
Willingness to travel domestically/internationally and to work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately 15% (as required
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Same requirements as a Research Scientist noted above, in addition to:
Typically, 12+ years experience in radiation and/ or reliability testing of microelectronic devices.

Experience with advanced test structure and circuit design using powerful CAD tools such as Cadence.
Experience with radiation hardness-by-design and reliability-by-design test chip development
Experience designing and implementing radiation testing
Experience with modeling / simulation of radiation effects
Publication record involving radiation testing
Experience with RF testing
Experience with FPGA/Microprocessor programming
Experience with Python / LabVIEW / MATLAB or similar software for data analysis and collection.
