Construction Engineer - Kansas City, KS
We have a career opportunity for a Construction Engineer with a proven track record of successfully managing a broad range of construction projects. In this role you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of construction projects, as well as play an important role in managing client relationships. You will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Review applicable construction standards, regulations, and contract requirements necessary for the completion of assigned tasks
- Field inspection and materials testing for compliance and detailed documentation of construction activities
- Assist in the design of projects and preparation of construction specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents for bidding
- Inform Project Manager on the progress of work and pertinent issues by compiling written, oral and/or a diagram presentation
- Comply with all applicable safety and environmental requirements
- Contribute to schedules, track project progress, keep contract conflict from escalating into a problem
- Interaction with contractors and their representatives while representing the contract owner
- Any other duties assigned by the Group Manager
- Being part of a team of civil engineering and technical professionals constructing transportation and municipal infrastructure in KS.
- Assist in civil infrastructure construction and design opportunities within a company that extends across the multiple regional areas.
What You Will Need:
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related required
- License Kansas PE preferred
- Experience related to road or bridge construction management preferred, KDOT experience a plus
- Construction management background or interest in working on field/construction engineering projects preferred
- Industry training or certifications a plus
- Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work outside on foot for extended periods of time
- Willingness to be flexible with variable work shifts during the entire work week and day/night shifts.
- Willingness to travel to project sites, sometimes out-of-town
- Good driving record and valid driver's license
