Job Description

Job Summary:

The General Maintenance Mechanic / Process Technician works as a member of the production team and facilitates process monitoring and process control through effective communication with Supervisors, Process Engineers, Operations Technicians and other staff members thus maintaining an efficient operation while minimizing downtime and maximizing the process to achieve safety, quality, and process goals.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assist Supervisors in meeting plant and corporate safety goals by initiating appropriate actions and communications as needed and through example.
  • Assure quality standards are not compromised while maximizing process speed and yield.
  • Support and enhance a "Preventive Maintenance" plan for each process segment. Insure that this plan is adhered to and communicate all variances with Supervisor.
  • Coordinate training activities, both new employee and developmental, through Supervisors, and Process Engineers, or other resources.
  • Monitor SPC (Statistical Process Control) and communicate with other Process Technicians, Supervisors, and other personnel as required.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in all situations requiring troubleshooting. Perform line repair as needed.
  • Support engineers projects as required include (but not limited to) equipment upgrades, installations, etc.
  • Monitor the Process and recommended action to prevent downtime and maximize speed and yield output to meet process goals without compromising quality.
  • Work with Operations Technicians and Support Personnel in pattern changes, quality tests, and inspections and line downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and obtain the repair of equipment and instruments as needed.
  • Complete all records and production reports as required.
  • Perform other duties that may be deemed necessary by the operations work team, Supervisors or other personnel that will insure safety, quality and/or process needs are met. Continue education through attendance to recommended programs and seminars.

Education and /or Experience:

  • Required
    • A high school education, or related training or related/comparable work experience.
  • Preferred
    • Two to three years' experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge of glass fabrication and equipment, mechanical and electrical maintenance, computers and data entry
    • Experience in process equipment programming, maintenance, electronics and robotics.

Schedule: The incumbent must have the flexibility to work days, nights and weekends. The normal work week is based on 12 hour shifts alternating 36 and 48 hour weeks. Shifts are fixed and weekend work will be required every other weekend.
