Job Description

This HR Operations Specialist role will have a concentration in benefits. This role is responsible for assisting with the administration support of all benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability.


  • Provides effective administration support of the company's benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, FSA, Life insurance, LTD, STD, EAP, etc.)
  • Educates employees regarding benefits information to include; benefits orientation and annual open enrollment
  • Administers Workers Compensation program; manage cases, work directly with carriers and medical providers, and manage reports
  • Assists with new-hire orientations and the open enrollment process.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
  • Contributes to the daily operations of the Human Resources department and support special projects as assigned.
  • Knows the details of all benefits choices offered by the company.
  • Keeps meticulous records on each employee.
  • Stays up-to-date on changing policies, technologies, services and state and federal regulations.
  • Assume responsibility of timely payment of monthly premiums.
  • Manage open enrollment and determine employee eligibility.
  • Handle all benefit compensation and reimbursement procedures.


  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be detailed oriented and precise with excellent organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must have knowledge of benefit contract language.
  • Must have clear understanding of compliance requirements and federal and state regulations pertaining to programs like ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, Medicare and Social Security.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of computer programs and relevant computer skills\
  • PHR or Professional in Human Resources designation preferred, but not required
