Job Description

KeyLogic seeks to immediately hire an experienced senior thought leader and practitioner in the field of energy and environmental life cycle analysis to join its Pittsburgh-based Life Cycle Analysis team. This growing team conducts data-driven, statistically rigorous cradle-to-grave environmental assessments on a variety of conventional and renewable energy pathways for a variety of clients. Quantification of emissions and impacts is recognized as the critical first step to implementing science-based reduction approaches in systems of all scales.

As a Principal Scientist, the successful candidate will apply sound process engineering principles and energy sector knowledge to the area of energy-related life cycle analysis (LCA). They will work with the team to develop and apply methods and tools, collect and analyze data, integrate and interpret results, and communicate the resulting information in publications and presentations. As a Senior Thought Leader, the successful candidate will propose and develop new approaches, especially those that integrate with other energy analysis fields, and apply those approaches to new sectors and systems.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D in Science or Engineering
  • At least five (5) years post-degree experience in conducting life cycle analyses
  • Ability to pass any required background checks and obtain any necessary security clearances required by our clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management and supervisory experience at $2M annual/20 FTE scale
  • Substantial publication record
  • Familiarity with data analysis and statistical analysis concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables, vba programming)
  • Python programming skills

Position Roles, Responsibilities, Expectations:

  • Propose, perform, and publish energy LCA work at conference and in peer-reviewed journals
  • Seek out and propose collaborations among the LCA team and other KeyLogic energy analysis teams
  • Seek opportunities for external collaboration such as with industry and academia as distinct from business development
  • Contribute to and advance client strategic planning efforts
  • Contribute to and advance KeyLogic business development efforts, including proposal development
  • Participate in recruiting efforts for both junior and senior staff
  • Mentoring and supervising energy analysis junior staff
  • Serve as part of the Energy Analysis Leadership team
  • Continue personal growth and development, aligning your knowledge and skill acquisition with the future direction of KeyLogic and key clients
