Job Description

Job Summary: 

Looking for a Litigation Support Technologist to provide support to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), Northern District of Texas (NDTX) at its Dallas, TX headquarters. 

Primary Functions/Work Responsibilities:

The Litigation Support Technologist should be capable of performing the following duties after basic training by the USAO on specific office procedures, software programs and equipment:

  • Assist prosecutors and legal support staff in organizing voluminous case information. Generally, the Litigation Support Technologist will scan, load, and index documents into a legal case management database.
  • Performs data entry as needed. 
  • Organize documents for efficient automated storage and retrieval by preparing appropriate indices; defining data file search criteria and indexing/coding fields. Smaller cases may be paper- based, in which case the legal administrative specialist will maintain the paper case file.

  • Process Electrically Stored Information (ESI) and create databases in data-review platforms (Eclipse, Relativity).

  • Assist in the compilation and organization of paper and electronic documents for use in presentations, hearings and/or trials.

  • Assemble trial notebooks for use by our civil attorney, judges, opposing counsel, and witnesses.

  • Load and manage electronic version of exhibits and other materials into PowerPoint and/or case presentation software and assist in presentation to court or others.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

Knowledge:

•    Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
•    Experience performing similar duties as outlined in this posting.
•    Professional, positive, and mature attitude, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Skills:

•    Excellent skills in written and verbal communication and assessment
•    Detailed oriented with attention to accuracy and thoroughness
•    Strong organizational, and decision-making skills

Ability:

•    Ability to perform data entry in a timely and accurate manner.
•    Ability to quickly learn new tasks.
•    Skill in operating automated document processing equipment such as photocopiers, printers, fax machines, and scanners

Essential Job Requirements: 

•    High school diploma or GED required. 
•    Must undergo and pass a minimum background investigation (MBI)
•    Must have lived in the United States three of the last five years immediately prior to start of performance on this position, and/or worked for the United States overseas in a federal or military capacity, and/or be a dependent of a federal or military employee serving oversea
•    Work a minimum of 40 hours in a work week
•    Be a citizen/ national of the United States of America

Physical Requirements: 

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting up to 10 pounds may be required and the ability to bend and stand, and file.

Work Environment:

The job operates in a professional office environment.
