Software Developer Job Description:

The selected candidate in this position will be responsible for developing and integrating software for real-time embedded systems on Submarines, Surveillance, and Surface Ship programs.

Software Developer Duties May Include:

  • Participate in all phases of software life cyle to include: design, development, integration, and test
  • May be required to work with hardware and firmware during setup and maintenance/debug efforts
  • Work with a small-medium sized agile team
  • Performing prototyping a cloud-based Linux system that supports a variety of application footprints
  • Rapid evaluation of technology viability to technical leads
  • Document system design and perform requirement analysis

Software Developer Required Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, teammates, leads and architects
  • Proficiency implementing algorithms in two or more of the following: C, NodeJS, ReactJS, Python, C++, Java
  • Experience with Containerization/Orchestration a must. Of particular interest is Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, OpenShift
  • Proficient in functional or object-oriented programming
  • Software development, integration and test experience
  • Multi-threading, memory management working in Linux/Unix operating system environment
  • Good working knowledge of Linux
  • Excellent software integration and troubleshooting skills
  • Technical writing to document system and software requirements and design
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, teammates, leads and architects

Software Developer Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with integration of software and systems
  • Experience with GIT
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Integration and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of ReactJS, HTML5, Rest are a plus
  • System and network programming a plus
  • Experience with integration and software and systems

Software Developer Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience and three to five years of professional experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work overtime and off shift when dictated to support business needs
  • Task driven with ability to work independently
  • Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships with the team members which fosters team success
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance. Must have clearance to begin work.

Contract Term: Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week
