Position Responsibilities
The T&D Estimator will develop, evaluate, compile and present scope and cost data for engineering, and construction estimates on distribution, substation and transmission projects up to 500 KV.

  • Perform a complete take off
  • Review all project documents
  • Attend scope review meetings
  • Participate in pre construction review of proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for transmission, substation and distribution projects.
  • Utilizes company estimating system to develop bid package and follows company guidelines, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets.
  • Monitor proposed estimates with actual cost data.
  • Review design options and through collaboration with Engineers, recommend best solution based on cost, quality or availability of materials.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, subcontractors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates, schedule work activities, and resolve issues.
  • Develop scope narratives, clarifications, and qualifications for clearly written client proposals.
  • Education
    Bachelors Degree
    Position Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years transmission and distribution (T&D) estimating experience.
  • Lump Sum and GMP Design Build estimates and have a strong background in conceptual design estimates.
  • MS Project or P6 Scheduling
  • Heavy Bid or other current estimating software
  • Understand current job market & risks strategies
  • Negotiation with contractors and subcontractors
  • Establish and maintain historical cost data
  • Indirect cost development methodology

    Previous field or estimating experience in the following areas highly preferred:
  • Underground / overhead distribution
  • Substation / Switch Yard experience to 500 KV
  • Transmission to 500 KV
  • Helicopter aerial operations to support conductor stringing and structure assembly is highly desirable, but not required
