POSITION SUMMARY To support the Horizon Scanning Project Manager and content team in the production, maintenance, and management of horizon scanning content and systems, as follows: perform research on topics, trends, diseases, and background information; assist with updating and formatting content in databases and reports as needed; assist with exporting and importing data for project deliverables; assist with managing horizon scanning databases and work queues; draft system status, performance, and progress reports; provide administrative support for project meetings; assist Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator and Patient Engagement Specialist with recruitment and comment processes; assist Medical Copyeditor in checking document references lists; and other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions Statements(s)

  • Research topic leads and categorize, prepopulate, and assign leads for Analyst review
  • Perform preliminary and background research on new topics and trends to support topic development by Analysts
  • Prepopulate newly created topics and trends database records and topic profile templates with basic information (e.g., clinical trials, manufacturer information, disease information) in preparation for topic development and drafting
  • Assist with managing and maintaining topics, trends, and leads databases and workflow processes for production of topic profiles, Status Reports, and High Potential Disruption Reports
  • Update records in topics and trends databases in preparation for Status Update reports
  • Export data from Microsoft SharePoint databases in preparation for Status Reports and reimport data from final published versions of Status Reports to database
  • Assist with compiling and formatting all project deliverables to meet client's specifications
  • Perform data summarization, systems status and performance reporting, and other data retrieval and management tasks as requested
  • Draft bi-weekly status meeting agendas and monthly project progress reports as required
  • Record minutes for project meetings as required
  • Assist Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator and Patient Engagement Specialist in recruiting physicians, nurses, researchers, health systems experts, patients, and caregivers as commenters
  • Assist Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator in maintaining stakeholder database and managing comment process, including scheduling, processing, and follow-up
  • Assist Medical Copyeditor in checking document reference lists and verifying links
  • Other duties as assigned

Accountability Metrics:

  • Timely processing of topic leads for Analyst review
  • On-time completion of Status Report topic updates
  • On-time completion of Status Report exports and reimports


  • Fast learner able to perform a variety of research, technical, and administrative duties in a fast-paced production environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel essential
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and knowledge of database concepts pluses

Education: Bachelor's degree in life science, health or biomedical science, clinical science, healthcare administration, public health, or healthcare information systems with 0 to 2 years relevant experience, or related degree (e.g., business, information systems, healthcare journalism) with 2 or more years of relevant experience

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office 2007+
