The Clinical Scientific Curator for the Clinical Genomics and Genetics Services unit at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine will critically evaluate and interpret cancer genomic variants from curation into the JAX Clinical Knowledgebase (CKB). The Clinical Scientific Curator will assimilate and integrate data from scientific literature related to pathogenicity and predictive efficacy in a format compatible with clinical reporting and will assist in quality assurance and quality control of all data within CKB. The Content Curator will also perform project management duties to support CKB collaborations, business operations, and will be customer-facing for all existing CKB customers and new lead generation.

    Working with internal resources and external databases and the scientific literature, the Clinical Scientific Curator will curate and interpret cancer genomic variants and therapeutic knowledge information through standard operating procedures.
  • The Clinical Scientific Curator will work with the computational sciences group to integrate and test new curation tools.
  • The Clinical Scientific Curator will update clinical trial information and analyze efficacy evidence data on targeted therapies.
  • Will work with internal and external resources in a project management capacity to assist with acquiring new customers, customer integrations, customer service, and collaborations.
  • Will ensure data integrity of the JAX Clinical Knowledgebase by implementing and executing quality assurance and quality control protocols and related QC projects.

  • An advanced PhD level degree in genetics, genomics, cellular biology, molecular biology or an equivalent is required and two years related experience.
  • At least 2 years experience in scientific or software project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of targeted therapies, next-generation sequencing technology, genomics, clinical informatics, molecular diagnostics, pharmacology, and cancer biology.
  • Previous experience as a technical writer and/or curator is preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in technical writing and oral presentations, in a customer facing-role.
  • Working knowledge of database/curation systems, including biomedical ontologies, and the ability to critically evaluate new systems is required.
  • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are required. Ability to quickly assess, interpret, integrate, and reassemble relevant medical and scientific literature.
  • Ability to function as part of a matrixed organization and work as a team player required.
