Job Description

In anticipation of project funding, Torch Technologies, a 100% Employee-owned company, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to support software development activities for the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC) at Detroit Arsenal, MI. Applicants will provide support to government labs in support of various R&D efforts in support of the US Army. Projects range from embedded software development to interface with hardware such as sensors, bridge interfaces, and robotics; AI/ML software development to support data analysis and automation technologies; and software architects to help plan and design frameworks and structures focused on integrating systems and subsystems. Candidate should be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and will have an opportunity to grow technically and take on new responsibilities within this position. Previous experience working within a DoD environment is a plus, but not required.

Job Requirements
  • A BS and 15+ years of software development experience
  • Experience developing object-oriented and/or embedded software in C/C++
  • Experience developing AI/ML solutions
  • Ability to implement network communications structures to support various messaging specs and ICDs
  • Ability to reverse engineer software interfaces where documentation may be lacking
  • Ability to research solutions to difficult problems
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments
  • Familiarity with source control repositories such as Git, TFS, and/or SVN
