Position Summary

With direction from professional staff in the Center for Multicultural Engagement & Inclusion, the Student Travel & Professional Development Program Assistant will be responsible for organizing and coordinating proposals for the Online Professional Development Program, the Graduate School Entrance Exam & Professional Licensure Program, and the Student Travel Program. This position will support the Associate Director by facilitating informational consultation meetings with students, facilitating the proposal process, and coordinating monthly committee meetings. The Student Travel & Professional Development Program Assistant will also be available to provide customer service to students and other members of MSU Denver inquiring about the programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

The Student Travel & Professional Development Program Assistant will work to maintain an efficient and organized filing and record keeping system in order to create a strong and effective program. The Assistant will also help to develop and maintain a customer-oriented office through outstanding service and by performing general office duties as needed.

Under the supervision of the professional staff, specific responsibilities include the following areas:

* Facilitate and manage the Student Travel proposal process
* Facilitate and manage the Online Professional Development Program proposal process
* Assist with the Graduate School Entrance Exam & Professional Licensure Program proposal process
* Conduct Student Travel consultation meetings with students who are interested in using the program
* Maintain strong organization of travel proposals and records pertaining to the program
* Check qualifications for students applying for funding using the Banner system
* Schedule and coordinate monthly student travel presentations.
* Maintain strong communication between students and others involved in the program and committee
* Serve as a member of the Student Travel Program committee to aid in funding decisions
* Distribute program evaluations to students and travel advisors who have utilized the program
* Assist and coordinate marketing and promotional efforts for the program.
* Aid in office duties, such as phone coverage, participating in all staff meetings and retreats, writing reports required by professional staff members, staff booths, and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

* Must be a current MSU Denver Student

Preferred Qualifications

* The ideal candidate shall possess the following qualities; very strong organizational skills, positive attitude, responsibility, self-reliance, strong written and oral skills, willingness to help other areas of the office, strong customer service skills, computer skills, and dedication.
* Must be willing to work between 20-27 hours per week.
