Global Talent Management (GTM) is centrally responsible for creating and evolving Amazon's human capital and talent products and processes. GTM Science is a growing interdisciplinary science team within GTM that develops science products and services that facilitate Amazon's growth and development of talent across all of our businesses and locations around the world.
Our vision in GTM Science is to use machine learning and science to scalably solve organizational challenges focused on talent movement, talent differentiation, employee-role matching, promotion processes, organizational design and succession planning, diversity and inclusion, and new areas that address the evolving needs of our diverse employee base.
We are looking for a talent science manager to build and lead an interdisciplinary team of scientists and develop algorithms for a wide array of talent management use cases, ranging from anomaly detection at scale, talent matching recommendations, forecasting and network analysis etc. The role has high visibility to senior Amazon business leaders and involves working with other scientists, partnering with dev and product teams to integrate these models into production systems.
Key Responsibilities * Breaking new ground and developing the short and long term strategy for science supported insight personalization products. * * Going deep and provide technical leadership on execution, reviewing code, and challenging/mentor/develop the team to think critically about their approaches and trade-offs. * * Interface with internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progress * * Managing and quantifying the value of improvement with various streams of work and optimizations to inform leadership decision making * * Collaborate with a wide range of science teams to leverage their domain expertise in enhancing insights personalization products.Basic Qualifications * Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics or Quantitative Behavioral Sciences field * 5+ years of experience applying statistical models for large-scale application and building automated analytical systems * 2+ years managing Machine Learning Scientists * Skilled with Python or R or other scripting language * Expertise in a least one area of Machine Learning (NLP, Regression, Classification, Clustering, or Anomaly Detection) * Demonstrated use of modeling and optimization techniques tailored to meet business needs * Exceptional technical writing and communication skills for non-technical audiences * Highly adaptable, creative, and thrives in a fast-paced work environment Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
