About the Department | The 900+ positions of the Facilities Division service the students and staff of the University's teaching, research/administrative space and 2, 240 acres of infrastructure. The Facilities Division provides design and building services, maintenance, custodial, landscape, solid waste removal, utility, mail, and motor pool services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The goal is to deliver cost-effective services to the University, ensure completed projects and maintenance that conform to codes and regulations while minimizing University liabilities and disruptions caused by the maintenance, repair, building, and equipment modifications to the University. |
Essential Job Duties | The primary function of this position is to serve as the Utility locator for NC State's main campuses in Raleigh. The position will complete locate requests within the timeframe as required by the general statute to prevent damage to underground utilities and ensure worker safety by accurately marking utilities before any excavation on campus. The position will also assist University staff in the maintenance of "As-Built" drawings and GIS systems to keep accurate documentation of all utility infrastructure and systems. The position will also assist the Utilities department with minor utility system repair project management and assist with performing long-range planning of system upgrades and replacements.
