SR. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

The Role

You will join the team that is responsible for readying our hardware for release to production. This is an excellent opportunity is for an experienced self-starter who can drive activities to successful completion. You will provide front line support for Pensando's hardware from production release through end of life, and will be responsible for NPI Support and Sustaining Engineering. The successful candidate will have a broad manufacturing background in the Computer/Server/Network or related electronic products/systems, with additional experience launching volume production into Contract Manufacturers (CM).

Responsibilities:

  • Own the manufacturing process through the life of the product. Work with the ODMs, CMs and suppliers to drive prioritization and resolution of manufacturing issues and field failures, and improve overall product stability and maturity
  • Development of manufacturing processes that balance efficient cycles times with the production of high quality products
  • Train the contract manufacturing partner to successfully build, test and troubleshoot product and software issues
  • Development of quality inspection processes and root cause analysis/corrective action to resolve quality issues
  • Work with HW Engineering team to set up and maintain the BOM, release ECO/MCO/DEV for NPI and Production needs
  • Technical review of product changes through supply chain and in field
  • Support second source and EOL replacement part qualification
  • Provide on-site support for all builds at CM, including driving factory readiness, supporting product bring-up, providing training and gathering feedback on DFx (DFM, DFA, DFT) and yield issues.
  • Coordinate with Test and Platform Engineering to establish test coverage requirements for manufacturing test process. Develop data collection strategies for the monitoring of test capacity and yields.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the supply chain, resulting in reduced cycle time, increased yields and improved cost.
  • Leverage CMs shop floor control system to enforce routing, manage configurations, validate components and collect data.
  • Closely work with the customer service team to investigate quality/performance issues that occur at customer installations that are related to manufacturing issues; develop corrective actions to resolve customer issues
  • Develop and implement test and quality processes to monitor the quality of critical components; manage component suppliers for the resolution of quality issues, root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Monitor all aspects of production and test capacity; make recommendations and implement actions required to insure ongoing adequate production and test capacity to meet growth requirement

Qualifications:

      • Expertise in PCB Design and Layout
      • Proven experience in hardware failure analysis
  • Direct experience with the new product introduction process releasing product into volume manufacturing.
  • Prior experience with Arena/Agile PDM system
  • Organized and methodical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts simply and effectively to gain support for manufacturing improvement initiatives.
  • Good sense of humor!

Academic Credentials:

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or equivalent
