As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement and management of materials and components necessary for our manufacturing processes. You will work closely with suppliers, the Director of Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless supply chain operation that meets our organizational goals. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing parts with suppliers that can meet or exceed our cost, quality, and delivery requirements. Interpreting requirements from MRP output and placing orders for components to support manufacturing needs is an important responsibility of this position. Timely adjustments to quantities and delivery dates of these parts are necessary as our requirements change in order to keep our inventory balances at appropriate levels.
Procure goods and services through the administration of purchase orders to support manufacturing operations
Interpret and execute MRP requirements in a manner to ensure appropriate inventory levels that support our manufacturing requirements while minimizing excess materials
Procure materials from suppliers that can meet or exceed our cost, quality, and delivery requirements
Ensure the materials supplied meet our quality and supplier documentation requirements
Improve reaction time to changing requirements through interaction with the MRP changes
Eliminate material shortages that prevent manufacturing from executing their production plans
Maintain supplier base by identifying and including optimum number of suppliers
Compile and analyze data for supplier scorecards, responsiveness, on-time delivery and other metrics
Work with management to develop and execute team acquisition strategies
Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements and Department of Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS)
Message risk, issues, and opportunities to management
Positive interactions with other departments to achieve customer objectives
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, preferably supply chain or business related, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Supply Chain experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry and/or Electronic Manufacturing Environment (prefer both)
Work independently and in a collaborative and team-based environment
Experience with multi-tasking and managing competing priorities
Experience with purchasing/MRP/ERP systems
Experience purchasing capital equipment and/or construction services
Critical and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and blueprints
Innovative; detail oriented; possesses a thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes; and management reporting requirements
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
Ability to obtain a Government security clearance, if necessary
