Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (RRB/ITC) is a dynamic hub for government, business, commerce and the community, in the heart of the nation’s capital. As the first and only federal building dedicated to both public and private use, the Reagan Building is the official World Trade Center Washington, DC, featuring a premier conference and events center, executive office space, attractions and exhibits, retail, dining, parking and public programming.
Trade Center Management Associates (TCMA, A Drew Company), the exclusive manager of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on behalf of the U.S. General Services Administration, is seeking an Banquet Manager to join our team. The Banquet Manager should be able to manage an event or a group of events and provide supervision to ensure that the client’s expectations have been met or exceeded. The Banquet Manager will be responsible for executing the plan for the event(s) and will be held accountable for following instructions and responding to changes in a professional manner. The Banquet Manager will act as the liaison between the client and the operating departments executing the event and all changes will be communicated through this individual.
Essential Functions
The Banquet Manager will be introduced to the client by the Event Planning Manager, Catering Sales Manager or Director of Event Planning and, from that time until the event is completed, will be the primary liaison with the client. They will:
Stay in touch with the client and be available in the event of changes, which the banquet Manager will institute.
Verify the client’s guarantee, room set and other arrangements that were communicated on the BEO for the purpose of completing the Event check.
Will obtain the specific agenda and schedule of the event for distribution to those who need to know the information
The Banquet Manager will coordinate service personnel to ensure there is adequate staff, properly groomed and properly assigned to perform duties associated with carrying out events professionally.
The Banquet Manager will conduct a briefing of service personnel for each event prior to the beginning of the function to ensure complete communication to the necessary staff.
Prior to leaving at the end of any given assigned shifts, the Banquet Manager will ensure that the rooms for the next period of functions are set up properly and that other departments such as Convention Services, Audio Visual, and cleaning, have been advised of any discrepancies so that corrections can be made.
The Banquet Manager will recommend and participate in the training required for service staff to ensure a high standard of service and technical knowledge.
Job Requirements
Three to five years’ experience working in a high volume, upscale catering venue
Experience managing a diverse workforce
Basic proficiency of Microsoft Office
Excellent communication skills
Flexibility with schedule; can work days, evenings and weekends
