Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician assists in developing, monitoring, evaluating, and improving manufacturing equipment and machines.  This could include programming and tooling support for the assembly & test of electronic “box build” assemblies to help ensure optimal production flow of product. 
  • Provides first line of support to production floor to maintain SMT equipment to include printer, adhesive station, chip shooter, pick & place, reflow oven, X-Ray, wash, router, de-panel unit, AOI unit, paste height and measurement
  • Assists in developing programs for SMT/Prep/Routers/Ovens/Wave & Select Solder types of equipment utilized in the production process
  • Assists with monitoring, evaluating, or improving the performance of all manufacturing equipment through programming 
  • Supports engineering continuous improvement efforts
  • Assists engineers with compiling and evaluating process control & test data to define capabilities and variables for process or product specifications
  • Assists in identifying root cause, and helps to solve issues on equipment and end product, aiding engineers, other technicians, and operators using 5Y’s, basic problem solving skills, etc.  
  • Partners with Process and Quality Engineers to review and analyze defect/yield data; coordinates root cause and corrective actions using appropriate tools/methodologies
  • Assists engineers with generating procedures, deviations, purges, and other process documentation
  • Evaluates new quality standards as required
Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of one year of experience in electro-mechanical repair in Electronics assembly environment which includes at least two years of experience with Printed Circuit Board SMT process development/support and X-ray equipment used with electronic assemblies
  • Hands on technical experience with SMT processes, soldering and testing requirements
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 D, IPC 7711/7721 
  • Knowledge of NASA-STD-8739.1-4 
  • Skilled in problem solving techniques and methods (process, product, procedure)
  • Experience with implementing lean tools/methods (Standard work, 5S, cells, TPM, 1 piece flow, Set Up reduction, Poka Yoke)
  • Working knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical operations/systems with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Familiarity with work standards and visual manufacturing instructions
  • Able to interpret blueprints, layouts, schematics and CCO’s
  • Understanding of material and component types, styles, symbols and color codes
  • Knowledge of tolerances of 25 mils center to center
  • May require handling or exposure to chemicals used in the production area
  • Experience with continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing preferred
  • Experience working in a secured environment preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team building skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Inter, intra-department and external contact required
  • Vision corrected to 20/20
  • Continuous standing during daily support initiatives; occasional lifting and moving of material and fixtures over 25 pounds and up to 60 pounds; infrequent movement of equipment with casters in excess of 100 pounds
  • Ability to obtain a US Government granted security clearance
