The AP Specialist will be responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the company.
Responds to external vendors and internal customers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for payment, recording sales tax, assisting with bank reconciliations, and documenting loans
Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include match the check register with backup for review by the financial manager, verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies
Receives, verifies, and processes credit card bills and ensures correct general ledger account codes are used; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records
Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop payment orders as needed
Prepares weekly cash disbursement forecast
Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions; this includes Accounts Payable, Received but Not Invoiced, Other Accruals and liabilities Balance Sheet accounts
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; Business or Accounting degree preferred
Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification preferred
Minimum of five years of related experience
Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures
Must be able to learn accounting software systems
Ability to maintain confidential and accurate records
Strong problem-solving skills with effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs
Effective organizational skills, high level of reliability, precision and attention to detail
Ability to obtain a US Government granted security clearance, if necessary
