Job Description
Join our team who is committed to the delivery of the highest quality health care service. We are seeking a full-time Mental Health Support Worker - Technician that is self-motivated, energetic, and a take charge individual.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide positive and effective services for children with mental health disorders.
  2. Observe patient behaviors, record their observations, and lead them in therapeutic and recreational activities.  
  3. Consult with doctors and other mental health professionals as part of the treatment team.
  4. Assist in implementing treatment plan interventions.
  5. Defuse and report crisis situations and intervene where appropriate by using non-invasive procedures.
  6. When appropriate, assist in restraint and seclusion if/when patients become physically aggressive.
  7. Communicate significant patient events to the treatment team, families, and other required outside entities. 
  8. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by assisting with groups, exercising patience, setting limits on patients, and following established safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  9. Orient patient and family/significant others to the program.
  10. Maintaining and monitoring activities of daily living (ADL) when appropriate.
  11. Escort patients to various locations i.e., tests, meals, activities, supervising and managing their behaviors as required.
  12. Ensure the safe and therapeutic care through routine functions as assigned.
  13. Manage stressful and demanding situations effectively.
  14. Performs vital signs on patients.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or GED or an Associate degree in mental health technology or other related field.
  2. Advanced training that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing Assistant is beneficial.
  3. Completion of coursework in group psychiatric nursing is beneficial.
  4. Previous experience as a home health aide or nursing aide is beneficial. American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional rescue is required within thirty (30) days of the date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.
  5. Formal training in management of aggressive patients is required within sixty (60) days of the day of hire (this may be provided during the orientation process). Annual recertification is required.
  6. Familiarity with DHS 40 is preferred.
  7. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
