The Buyer purchases electronic components, within their assigned programs, which may be custom in nature and/or involve close management with Engineering and the approved supply base. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing these parts with suppliers that can meet or exceed our cost, quality, and delivery requirements. Interpreting requirements from MRP output and placing orders for components to support manufacturing needs is an important responsibility of this position. Timely adjustments to quantities and delivery dates of these parts are necessary as our requirements change in order to keep our inventory balances at appropriate levels.
Interprets and executes MRP requirements in a manner to ensure appropriate inventory levels that support our manufacturing requirements while minimizing excess materials
Procures materials from suppliers that can meet or exceed our cost, quality, and delivery requirements
Reduces supplier lead-times and the amount of material within the supply pipeline
Negotiates favorable pricing for materials
Ensures the materials supplied meet our quality and supplier documentation requirements
Improves reaction time to changing requirements through interaction with the MRP changes
Eliminates materials shortages that prevent manufacturing from executing their production plans
Maintains supplier base by identifying and including optimum number of suppliers
Bachelor's degree, preferably business related, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of two years of related buying experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and blueprints
Innovative; detail oriented; possesses a thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes; and management reporting requirements
Ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines
Ability to obtain a Government security clearance, if necessary
