Job Description
Vernadero Group Inc. is a Veteran-Owned Small Business founded in 1999 to provide infrastructure and environmental program support to Federal agency projects and activities throughout the United States and its territories. Vernadero is seeking a GIS Analyst to provide geospatial support for the Army National Guard (ARNG). The successful candidate will be responsible for summarizing year-by-year quality assurance performance on a variety of geospatial metrics across all ARNG sites. Data analytics will involve inputs from both GIS assets and real property information. The position supporting the ARNG G9 geospatial requirements is a full-time, permanent position that allows for off-site teleworking.

Candidates should possess the following minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, landscape architecture, planning, environmental science, or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional geospatial and geodatabase experience
  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS ArcPro and ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Knowledge of data analytics software such as Tableau Desktop
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to produce sophisticated maps for technical reports and mapping programs
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills including dealing with senior officials
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work in a complex environment
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to travel nationwide
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Ability to achieve Government security clearance
Preference will be given to candidates that possess:
  • Graduate degree in a geography, landscape architecture, planning, environmental science or related field
  • GISP Certification
  • Experience leading GIS and geospatial support training classes
  • Experience with Army and ARNG geospatial databases, infrastructure, and real property data
  • Demonstrated experience with Python scripting, with the ESRI arcpy module
  • Experience with SDSFIE version 4.0
  • Experience with the Department of the Army databases and software packages
Specific responsibilities for the GIS Analyst may include the following:
  • Quality assurance performance tracking on large amounts of facility data using data analytics software
  • Ability to produce clear and concise graphics for quality assurance reports provided to higher level management at ARNG
  • Perform analysis in Tableau Desktop on various site attributes and state-by-state facility metrics
  • Perform quality assurance on large map datasets covering the entire ARNG
  • Communicating directly with ARNG stakeholders in multiple states
  • Working with a team of GIS Analyst in the development of common installation picture (CIP) data layers, metadata, and SDSFIE migration of several terabytes of data
  • Aid in troubleshooting arcpy (Python) geospatial tools and SQL queries
